The Clifford Brewing Co. was launched by brewer Brad Clifford in Hamilton, Ontario in January, 2015. Brad had been brewing beer in the Ontario Craft Beer scene since 2009 and was first acknowledged as an award winning homebrewer before soon venturing into commercial brewing with similar success.
Two of the original Clifford Beers, Pinball Wizard APA and Clifford Porter, were first brewed under contract for bars and the LCBO while a site was secured in Hamilton for the brewery. Construction of the new brewery began in spring 2017 and by the fall of 2017, all Clifford beers were proudly brewed in East Hamilton at 398 Nash Rd. N.
The Clifford taproom and retail store opened in 2018 and along with the award winning Clifford Porter and Pinball Wizard a number of new beers were put into regular production, many available only at the brewery.
Since 2015, Clifford Porter has won 3 Gold Medals and 2 Silvers in the Canadian and Ontario Brewing Awards and is widely considered one of Ontario’s finest locally brewed porters. It can be purchased directly from the brewery or in local LCBO and grocery stores now.
