eat make share Speaker Series: Len Senater, featuring Emily Zimmerman

Join us at Joseph Brant Museum for our eat make share speaker series, featuring acclaimed Canadian cookbook authors. Each month, a new speaker will discuss their publication and how their family’s cultural background has influenced their culinary journey. Attendees will also enjoy a recipe demonstration & tasting, and have the opportunity to view the special exhibit eat make share: a taste of immigration from the Canadian Museums of Immigration at Pier 21. Featured titles will also be available for purchase directly from the author and in the Museum’s gift shop.

Ticket includes admission to Joseph Brant Museum, speaker presentation (7pm), and light refreshments. The Museum will open 1-hour prior to the presentation at 6pm for those who wish to view the special exhibit eat make share: a taste of immigration. This event is recommended for ages 12+.

July 16, 2026 | The Depanneur Cookbook by Len Senater, featuring Emily Zimmerman

The Depanneur Cookbook is equal parts memoir, manifesto and cookbook. Curated by Len Senater, the book features amazing stories, beautiful photography by Ksenija Hotic, and showcases 100 recipes from 100 cooks representing more than 80 nationalities. Len Senater founded The Depanneur in 2011 as an experiment in pop-up dining.

The Depanneur is an ongoing, evolving social and culinary experiment; a prototype and proof-of-concept exploring food’s role in building community, creating opportunity and celebrating diversity. It has been built around the idea the food can be and do more, and has brought this to life through social-purpose initiatives like Newcomer Kitchen, a 3-year pilot program (2016-2019) that put more than $150,000 into the pockets of over 80 newly-arrived Syrian refugee women.

Emily Zimmerman is a chef, community worker, food justice activist, cooking up deluxe, delicious vegan dishes and retro comfort food. She can be found at food events around the GTA and at The Depanneur.
