The Iron Pour at the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology

Discover this new event in partnership with the Canadian Society for Contemporary Iron Arts (CSCIA). Artists will be on site forging pieces in a live furnace and demonstrating how to use scratch blocks to create works of art from cast iron. Visitors will be able to speak with artists, watch demonstrations, and purchase a scratch block to make their own iron designs on site (limited quantities available). Enjoy free admission to the museum to view the amazing iron work of the 1859 Pumphouse engines and miniature train rides operated by volunteers from the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers club.

Furnace will be ready to pour iron at 2PM. Train Rides will be running from 11AM to 4PM.

Time: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM Ages: All Cost: Free admission. Scratch blocks $25 per tile, cash only - limited quantities available. Proceeds of sales go to CSCIA.
