The holiday season comes alive across the region with celebrations that bring their communities together. From festive lights and holiday markets, to cozy restaurants and heritage activities, there’s plenty to discover throughout November and December. Here are some seasonal highlights in Six Nations, Ancaster, Dundas, and Milton worth exploring this winter!

Connect with Six Nations Traditions

Six Nations of the Grand River offers meaningful cultural experiences year-round. Visit Chiefswood National Historic Site, the childhood home of renowned Mohawk poet E. Pauline Johnson, where exhibits celebrate her dual Indigenous and English heritage in a beautifully preserved 1850s estate that’s now decorated in yuletide charm. Woodland Cultural Centre showcases Haudenosaunee art, history, and contemporary culture through exhibits that honour Six Nations’ rich traditions. Her Majesty’s Royal Chapel of the Mohawks—Ontario’s oldest surviving church dating to 1785—welcomes visitors to experience its significant spiritual heritage and remarkable architecture. Iroqrafts is your one-stop shop for handcrafted gifts for the season; from plush moccasins, corn husk dolls, and carvings and art, to furs, skins, beads and materials for your own creation.

The community gathers for holiday cheer at Ancaster Old Town Hall for A Christmas Village on December 5, while Ancaster Memorial Arts Centre presents Sinfonia Ancaster’s beloved holiday concert. Theatre Ancaster brings Charles Dickens’ classic of A Christmas Carol to life in a unique 1940s-style radio theatre production, complete with vintage microphones and live sound effects. Hamilton Concert Band fills the season with timeless carols and Christmas classics, creating warm memories for families throughout the community.

Celebrate Heritage Holidays in Dundas

The 49th Annual St. James Holiday House Tour on December 6 showcases beautifully decorated Dundas homes, while the Dundas Museum and Archives hosts the Made in Dundas Holiday Festival with hot cocoa, popcorn, and festive photo opportunities. Free parking fills city lots on December weekends, making it easy to explore this charming historic community.

Experience Milton’s Holiday Magic

Christmas Town at Mountsberg Conservation Area offers guided woodland wagon rides through snowy forests to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus in their woodland hideaway. FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton presents a festive lineup including “A Swingin’ Christmas with Toronto All-Star Big Band“, “Elvis’ Wonderful World of Christmas: Graceland Edition” on December 21, and the enchanting Nutcracker Holiday Spectacular featuring Halton Region’s finest ballet talent.
