Holiday Spectacular with A Cappella Showcase & Harbourtown Sound

Join us for an amazing show featuring two award-winning choruses singing holiday a cappella music in four-part harmony.

For the 2024 holiday season, Harbourtown Sound and A Cappella Showcase choruses have once again joined forces to showcase their talent with an amazing “Holiday Spectacular” show at the McIntyre Performing Arts Centre at Mohawk College, on Saturday, November 30, 2024 @1:30 PM. In addition, the show will feature performances by the awesome Young Voices chorus.

We expect the show to be extremely well attended, with a total audience of about 1000-1200. We are creating a full-colour program to distribute at the show. Our audience is primarily from the Golden Horseshoe area, which means our program advertisers are reaching an audience that lives and shops in this area. Advertising in our show program is a great way to promote your products and services just as the holiday shopping season moves into high gear. Your business will be promoted to a receptive audience, and will also help support local musicians and performers.

Here is some information about our choruses and other performers singing at our show:

A CAPPELLA SHOWCASE A Cappella Showcase is an International Championship women’s chorus founded in Milton, ON. We are an educational singing organization, and welcome women of all ages to learn to sing and perform in four-part a cappella harmony. Formed in 1996, ACS is a member of Harmony Inc., an international organization of women who sing four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style. Under the direction of Jordan Travis, the chorus won Harmony’s International Chorus Competition in 2023. ACS is also proud to have been named Harmony’s International Championship chorus in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2019. In 2008, the chorus had the honour of being the first women’s barbershop chorus from Canada to be invited to perform at a prestigious music festival in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2012, ACS competed in the World Choir Games, winning a silver medal in the newly-introduced Barbershop category. With 90-plus members, ACS entertains audiences large and small with a wide array of show tunes, current hits and old favourites.

HARBOURTOWN SOUND Formed in 2003, Harbourtown Sound has grown to a chorus of more than 60 men who sing musical styles from modern Barbershop to Broadway, Rock, and Pop – all sung a capella (unaccompanied). Harbourtown Sound is the Hamilton Chapter of the International Barbershop Harmony Society, and has competed at the BHS Championship on six occasions: Las Vegas (2014), Pittsburgh (2015), Nashville (2016), Orlando (2018), Louisville

(2023), and Cleveland in 2024. In Louisville, HTS was rated as an “A” chorus, the highest rating in the Barbershop Harmony Society, ranking them among the world’s top choruses in the barbershop style of a cappella performance. Harbourtown Sound proudly supports local charities while serving, educating and entertaining community, business and charitable organization members, as well as senior citizens and school children in the greater Halton-Hamilton region. We are a member of the Hamilton Arts Council and proudly represent the City in performances at home and abroad.

YOUNG VOICES Based in Waterdown, ON, Young Voices was launched in 2024 with the aim of engaging youth in singing, music, and harmony. Our goal is to connect young people with the artistic leadership and other groups in the community. We believe young people deserve to learn and foster musical education. Young Voices offers a comprehensive vocal performance training program for students grade 1-3 (Junior Voices), grade 4-8 (Young Voices) and ages 14 to 25 (Mosaic), culminating in a combined high-quality concert series along with other incredible community ensembles.
