Pack your bags for this three-day itinerary designed to regenerate and revitalize the senses, featuring eco-friendly landscapes, rural discoveries and local favourites.

Discover a conscious travel journey in The Heart of Ontario’s Halton Region. Embark on our great care-based destination to support positive social and environmental impacts. Visit communities and experiences actively pursuing conservation, social and diversity-consciousness, smaller footprints, and locally-sourced goods and services.

Day 1

Morning: Burlington

Start your day off at Royal Botanical Gardens. Enjoy a guided tour with an expert horticulture interpreter through both Hendrie Park and The Rock Garden – 2 display gardens of 6 that span across 300 acres of lush biodiversity – before enjoying a fresh, garden-to-table lunch at the Greenhouse Cafe or the Rock Garden Bistro. Or a high tea experience at the Teahouse at the Turner Pavillion.

AFTERNOON: BURLINGTON

After a day exploring the gardens, enjoy dinner at Son of a Peach Pizzeria – a local pizzeria with a commitment to being a responsible entity by sourcing their high quality meats and produce from local farmers.

After dinner, take a stroll around downtown Burlington and the beautiful Waterfront Trail. Grab a handcrafted treat made from locally sourced milk and high-quality ingredients from Crema Di Gelato.

EVENING: BURLINGTON

Spend the night at the Courtyard by Marriott Burlington, an Eco-Certified hotel complete with an electric vehicle charging station.

DAY 2

MORNING: BURLINGTON

Enjoy the morning sunshine with a yoga session at Burlington beach or on a standup paddle board on one of North America’s Great Lakes, Lake Ontario, with Ontario Staycation Adventures; a proudly women-owned business.  Note that pre-registration is required for all Ontario Staycation Adventure activities.

If you prefer to spend the morning at your own pace, start the day off with some fresh air on a walk around Spencer Smith Park.

AFTERNOON: BURLINGTON & OAKVILLE

Re-fuel with a healthy meal from Lettuce Love Cafe, a vegan restaurant that uses sustainable, fair-trade, non-GMO ingredients and products before walking to Kelly’s Bake Shoppe for a delicious vegan baked snack for the day.

Admire the talented artwork of local artists at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre in the afternoon. The beautiful Gairloch Gardens is a short walk away and has beautiful views of Lake Ontario for a peaceful reprieve.

EVENING: OAKVILLE & BURLINGTON

Enjoy an evening in Downtown Oakville and peruse the local businesses for trinkets and gifts of your trip so far before a savory, authentic Italian dinner at 7 Enoteca made from locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Return to the Courtyard by Marriott Burlington for another comfortable night in to re-energize for another amazing day ahead.

DAY 3

MORNING: MILTON

Check out of the Courtyard by Marriott Burlington and drive to Crawford Lake Conservation Area for a morning of hiking in nature and learning about Indigenous culture at the Longhouse Village or the Three Sisters Garden.

Enjoy home-style sandwiches, soups and pies made out of fresh ingredients from the field at Springridge Farm. At this six generation farm, traditions are filled with their local stake in the community. Visit the bakeshop for farm fresh ingredients and plan to take a tart or two home with you!

AFTERNOON: BURLINGTON & CARLISLE

Experience the unique pollinator gardens of Backed By Bees while trying their mead and honey products including their Bee Sippin‘ Barrel Aged mead. Believing that the natural world teaches us much, Backed By Bees are beekeepers and meadmakers that are always learning and teaching about nature’s gift.

Finish the day off at Cascata Bistro. From farm-to-table and a 100-mile market supply philosophy, they aim to serve traditional flavours of authentic Italian cuisine with a twist. Vegan and vegetarian options provide sustainable choices to the delicious menu.
