After sixteen versions produced in Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East, The Ship of Tolerance celebrated its 20th anniversary here in Canada in 2025.
Over 2000 young participants conversed about inclusivity, different cultures, respect, and creative ideas for the future. They created paintings that expressed their visions of tolerance and how those visions influence strong notions of humanitarianism in society. A selection of their paintings was strung together to create the ship’s sails. The ship itself was constructed with the expertise of professional shipbuilders from Manchester, highlighting the project’s spirit of collaboration across generations and communities.
With the Ship’s presence ongoing now in 2026, we have again engaged 900 children from local schools and diverse community groups who have again played a part in creating the project.
