Shine the light on darkness! Enter Worlds of the Night’s dusky atmosphere and learn about what happens while we sleep. Uncover facts about our biological clocks and phases of sleep. Discover the fascinating world of nocturnal insects and animals. Learn about night vision and bioluminescence through interactive displays. This exhibition is a production of the Sherbrooke Museum of Nature and Science with the contributions from Heritage Canada, Atmosphere and FLIR.
THE DOOR TO DARKNESS
As the gateway to the exhibition, the “bedroom” prepares you for adventure by introducing many concepts: the biological clock, the various sleep phases, and night-vision. Yours eyes adapt to darkness and you’ll enter the world of nocturnal life.
THE NIGHT MAZE
Through a twisting dark path, you’ll discover nocturnal animals from around the world. Beware of creepy creatures! You’ll come face-to-face with small rodents, insects, spiders, bats, and a scorpion too! You’ll encounter the unexpected too, such as aardvarks, bilbies, African jerboas, fennec foxes, and caracals. Learn about the adaptations made by living beings to survive in the worlds of the night. Travel to polar realms with their awe-inspiring northern lights, take a trip to the bottom of a grotto, discover the phenomenon of bioluminescence.
