When it comes to finding things to do during March Break, Hamilton Halton Brant has a lengthy list. We’ve got oodles of exhibits, a slew of shows, and activities galore for kids of all ages. From maple syrup to interactive displays made from flowers and from endangered animals to world-class acts, here is your guide to beating boredom this March during the break and beyond.

Oodles of Exhibits

The break is the perfect time to take in Royal Botanical Gardens’ winter exhibit, Bloomland in Oz. This year’s exhibit brings L. Frank Baum’s classic to life with 25,000 real blooms, captivating botanical displays, and delightful artistic installations inspired by the original novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Wander through fragrant flowers and lush greenery as you follow the Yellow Brick Road through Oz for an all-ages indoor experience. Also part of the 2026 showcase, RBG presents Of Wonders Wild and New — a visual arts exhibition that draws on themes from the world of Oz through the lens of contemporary woodworking. Six artists from across Canada, Six Nations, Italy, and Spain, joined by members of the Ontario Wood Carving Association, bring the imaginative world of Oz to life in unexpected ways.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at Mount Hope is always worth a visit. The collection of restored, airworthy historic aircraft spanning from the Second World War through the jet age – especially one of two flight-worthy, war-winning Lancaster bombers – is an impressive sight and even more so for those interested in history and aviation-enthusiasts. While you’re there, the ongoing exhibition Making Freedom Fly adds another layer to the experience, drawing on the museum’s archival collection to tell stories from the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian home front through four digital experiences: an immersive dome, life-sized interactive avatars, an high-definition film, and augmented reality that lets you explore the iconic Avro Lancaster up close.

March 29 brings something extra with HeritageCon 18, organized in partnership with the IPMS Hamilton Modellers Club and widely considered Canada’s premier plastic scale model contest and sale. Holding it inside a museum full of historic aircraft makes for a setting unlike anything else in the Canadian modelling scene. Tickets must be purchased online in advance; none will be available at the door, and the event is expected to sell out so do remember to grab your tickets beforehand.

From Music to Sports

Whether you are looking for a musical night out or stage performances to entertain and enthrall, Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville are the places to be. TD Coliseum offers the latest edition of Disney on Ice – Jump In! – with characters from Zootopia and Moana coming to life in the rink. With the JUNOS coming to Hamilton, the Hamilton Public Library will play host to Junior JUNOS – a morning of performances by the 2026 JUNO nominees for Children’s Album of the Year. The whole family can sing and dance along, making it the perfect way to introduce your little music lovers to the JUNOS

Over at the Burlington Centre of Performing arts, join that curious little primate on a new adventure in Curious George and the Golden Meatball or learn about the life of two young birds in their magical tree in the contemporary circus act Tweet Tweet!

Or if you’re looking for something more musical, head on over to the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton for Annie KIDS to join the lovable redheaded orphan Annie as she finds her new family and home.

Activities Galore

March is the start of maple syrup madness! Experience how the pioneers made maple syrup then and the process has kept true to the very day at Westfield Heritage Village or Bronte Creek Provincial Park’s Maple Syrup Festival. The Sugar Maples at Mountsberg at Maple Town and Terra Cotta Conservation areas also produce their own sap and are harvested and processed by maple lovers each year; weather willing, definitely enjoy hiking the trails or visit their animals for added fun. For something more cultural, head over to Crawford Lake and learn how people of the First Nations enjoyed sweetwater for centuries while exploring the re-constructed village longhouse.

Each location has a slew of activities ranging from cozy wagon rides, to educational trails, delicious pancake breakfasts and almost certainly retail opportunities to bring back your own bottle of pure, golden sweetness. Check each location’s website for details and tickets and have a delicious weekend trip!
