A unique two-day & one-night fully outfitted guided canoe camping trip, experiencing scenic, historic sections of the Grand River, a great Canadian Heritage River.
Day One: Launching from our 150-year old Outfitter’s Post in historic Paris, paddle past town’s 1800’s riverside architecture heading down river with a little mild moving water and long calm stretches with beautiful scenery. Travel the River Valley through rare Carolinian forest, Canada’s most bio-diverse region with a wide range of flora & fauna normally found much further south. Paddle Canada certified guides with years of experience will lead you along the river’s best channels while provide paddling tips, telling great stories & revealing sights normally missed. From Osprey & Bald Eagles to natural Springs flowing into the river from 170-year old abandoned Gypsum mines, that gave Paris it’s name.
End of your first day’s journey, you land in Brant Conservation Area. We supply all the gear you need for a relaxing camping experience in 1 of South Ontario’s largest Conservation Area with a scenic riverfront stretching several kilometers along the Banks of the Grand. White-tail Deer and Bald Eagles make their home in Brant, as do raccoons, possums and Great Blue Herons.
Day Two; launch from your campsite & travel further down river on the historic Mohawk Run. Paddle by Brant’s Crossing where Chief Joseph Brant’s Mohawks first settled along the Grand, then past D’Aubigny Creek, the site of a pivotal battle in the war of 1812.
