Exceptional learning experience, combining lessons from a Paddle Canada Instructor with a canoe trip along a diverse stretch of river. The trip allows you to put your new skills into practice in the real world with your Instructor coaching you along the way.
Your full day experience begins with a morning session learning skills with your Instructor on calm Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area. A perfect spot to get acquainted to paddling on a small lake setting with little current. Your instructor begins with safety and advances to all the important paddling techniques. From draw and pry strokes for manoeuvring, to sweeps and the “J” strokes for steering.
As you become comfortable we head out on the Grand River, paddling the Mohawk Run which is a diverse section of river with your instructor. Our instructors have years of experience they will share to put your new skill into practice. They will show how to read the river and know what strokes to use in different conditions. By the end of the day you will be paddling the river like a pro and earn a Paddle Canada Canoeing Basic Skills Certification.
With this experience you will be able to paddle with confidence on lakes and calm rivers. It may also get you interested in our more advanced Paddle Canada Courses. Grand Experiences has been running canoeing courses since 1999. From Intermediate Lake Tandem Skills, to Solo Canoeing, to our Whitewater Courses and Canoe Instructor Certifications.
