Hidden in south western Waterloo & eastern Oxford County, the Upper Nith River meanders along dense forests, covering sweeping valleys broken by towering bluffs and rare tall-grass prairies.
The river course ranges from calm & serene, to thrilling and challenging, with some great swifts and interesting bends. This unique river is great for seasoned paddlers to refine their skills or aspiring paddlers to learn from our expert Paddle Canada Certified guides, who’ll arm you with a collection of new skills. As you maneuver around river features, paddle calm pools, swift waters, and under wrought iron bridges, it will feel like you’re rediscovering a forgotten land.
After some great paddling enjoy a well-deserved break on a stone beach with your guide who’ll share historic tales, including epic First Nations battles plus an infamous American outlaw who hid out along the Nith in the 1800’s. Guides know and are be keen to show points of interest easily overlooked by the untrained eye, such as sandbanks just above water level, with impressive networks of otter dens.
