2 day / 2 night fully outfitted guided canoe camping trip on the Exceptional Waters stretch of the Canadian Heritage River. Specially designated for its outstanding quality as a great outdoor experience plus significance in Canadian history. It’s the ancestral home to First Nations Iroquois & home to an abundance of nature as South Ont.’s largest river with rare Carolinian forest, 85 species of fish, Blue Heron, Osprey & Bald Eagles.
Day 1
Day 1 you take the Cayuga Run with our experienced guide staff launching you from our 150 year old Outfitters Shop in Paris. Paddle by the town’s 1800’s riverside architecture & into the Carolinian Forest valley. Our staff can tell where to find fresh water springs flowing in from Mile Hill, & other points of interest like a Blue Heron Rookery, Whitemans Creek & Sarah’s Island mixed in with miles of scenery & great paddling. And that’s just your first day. Land at Camp GECKO in Brant Conservation Area to camp for the night in 1 of South Ontario’s largest nature parks.
Day 2
Launch from your campsite for day 2’s journey on our Mohawk run. Paddle past historic D’aubigny Creek, site of a pivotal war of 1812 battle. Plus the Mohawk Chapel, Brant’s Crossing & on to the Oxbow. This section of the Grand is full of history including icons such as Alexander Graham Bell & Sir George Brown, a Father of Canadian Confederation.
