Constantly striving? Exhausted? Feeling deprived even in the midst of great abundance?
Rest and renewal is not just a luxury, it is needed for whole-hearted living. In today’s world, with its unyielding emphasis on success, productivity, and efficiency, finding time to simply be is more important than ever.
Join Michael Shewburg, Five Oaks Executive Director for our Rest and Renewal Retreat! Here you will find a space to rest your body and mind, restore your creativity, and regain your natural state of inner peace and well-being. The retreat will be flow between personal time, sharing circle and optional guided activities.
FEATURING: CARRIE RONGITS, a passionate Naturopathic Doctor who will empower us with immune system support and home remedies at home by using simple items in the kitchen to provide immune support in times of cold and flu. Carrie will demonstrate different forms of hydrotherapy such as the warm wet sock treatment and the power of saline for the sinuses. When there is cough and chest congestion, a good old fashioned mustard plaster or onion honey cough syrup can be whipped up in front of you and demonstrated. Herbal tonics such as the elderberry syrup will be demonstrated, and then sampled by all as a straight dose or in hot water for a soothing beverage. Carrie will also serve up some of her specialty medicinal teas to detox and strength your system.
Go for a walk and connect with the land. Listen deeply to the inner stirrings of your heart and the natural world around you. Sit in circle with others and feel the support of this open, inclusive and welcoming community. Be nourished and well-cared for with delicious, wholesome meals and comfortable accommodations.
