Great Canadian Adventure cycling the Trans Canada Rail Trail & paddling a Canadian Heritage River.
Your adventure begins at our Century & a half Outfitters Shop in the picturesque town of Paris on the Grand River in the heart of Ontario.
After outfitting you with bike & paddling gear, your experienced Guide leads you up the trail from Paris to the village of Glen Morris. Cycling along the riverside trail under a canopy of trees from the rare Carolinian Forest is a beautiful experience. Arrive at the Glen launch with your choice of canoe or kayak for a serene paddle down the Grand River back to Paris. Experiences like this is what Canada is all about
The adventure-filled Oneida run combines calm and swift water, making for a leisurely paddle through scenic woodland interspersed with some excitement. With the help of your Paddle Canada Expert Certified Guide, this trip is great for beginners as well as intermediate paddlers. Your guide will lead you through the beautiful Carolinian river ecosystem, showing you hidden wonders you never knew a river could offer. This trip includes a fascinating hike along the hills of the river valley to a scenic lookout revealing the landscape of the Grand. On your hike you’ll encounter one very special and very old Sycamore tree, rare to the area. You’ll hear stories of the original inhabitants of the Grand River Valley and the later European settlement of the area. Shoot the fun, short class I rapids by Sharps Landing. Experience the surprising natural spring water flowing into the Grand by Spring Island and thread the needle at the teaching rocks. Before paddling into picturesque Paris, you’ll pass by the majestic ‘three sisters’, haunting remnants of the Early Railway Era that followed river travel in the formation of Canada.
