The adventure launches from private docks at our historic 150 year old Outfitter Shop in downtown Paris. Begin paddling out of town past historic riverside architecture & then into the rare Carolinian forest where nature offers plenty to see & do. The Cayuga route is chiefly a relaxing paddle, with dashes of small swifts to keep your interest piqued. You’re able to see the great blue herons, ospreys, mallard ducks, turtles and white-tailed deer along the riverbank & an occasional bald eagle. Your guide will show you a world thought long past. Explore the remains of a 150 year-old gypsum mine, a key to Paris’ history. Hike the White Cedar Trail through the Carolinian Forest Valley bordering the Grand. Enjoy the view atop the Valley’s lookout point. Your guide will help you picture the Native tribe that frequented those same paths 400 years ago.
Discover natural cold springs feeding the river. There’s nothing like experiencing clean, cold water flowing from deep within the earth on a warm summer day. As you approach Whiteman’s Creek quietly, you may spot a muskrat, beaver or otter as you float past. Learn the legend of Whiteman’s Creek as your guide reveals the rich history of the Grand’s Cayuga Run.
Trip ends in Brant Park Conservation Area. Picnics & Camping are available at Brant
