Explore the Grand River on a 4-hour Self-Guided Trip.
Grand River self-guided canoe & kayak day-trip on relaxing section of the river with some small swifts for a little excitement. Launch from private dock at our historic 150 year old Outfitters shop in Paris-on-the Grand & begin paddling past Paris’ historic riverside architecture. You soon leave civilization behind as you enter the rare Carolinian Forest zone. You can view Great Blue Herons, Ospreys, Mallard ducks, turtles and perhaps white-tailed deer along the riverbank with an occasional Bald Eagle. Stop & explore forest lined banks of the Grand. Experience the Grand as First Nations people did hundreds of years ago.
Take time to experience one of many cold springs feeding into the river. Approach quietly & you may spot a beaver or a muskrat as you float past Whiteman’s Creek. As you reach Brant Conservation Area, the river forms a 3km long lake. The great thing about this Route is you can land soon as you reach our Outfitters Landing at Brant Park, or you can stretch out your trip in Brant’s Lake, paddling past the landing to explore the Park’s shoreline & several islands. With little current in ‘the lake’ you can easily paddle back up to our landing after some extra exploring.
After landing at Brant our shuttle takes you back to Paris.
Included:
– Canadian made 16ft Grand Prospector canoe & all paddling gear (PFD, Paddles, etc)
– Expert Paddle Canada certified guides help you launch & provide instruction
– Shuttle service back to Paris after your trip.
Use on-line booking section on website or book by phone 1-888-258-0441. If you call after hours leave a message & we’ll quickly return your call.
