All-inclusive 2 day/1 night experiencing best of the Grand River. Hike, paddle &/or cycle along a Canadian Heritage River thru rare Carolinian forest & historic riverside communities. Led by experienced Paddle Canada certified guides. In the evening relax in luxury at our local TownePlace Suites with your choice of dinner at 1 of 3 great Paris Restaurants.
Day 1 you have the option of canoeing, kayaking or bicycling. Day one is the pristine Oneida Run, a secluded section of the Grand River stretching from the village of Glen Morris to the historic town of Paris. One of the most scenic pieces of Southern Ontario, with mild moving water plus long stretches of calm pools and beautiful scenery. The Grand travels through a deep valley of rare Carolinian forest with its wide a range of flora & fauna 1 of the most bio-diverse area in the country. Sights include Osprey & Bald Eagle habitat, a natural Spring flowing out of the riverbed, a 300 year old sycamore tree. Midway through the trip your guide will lead you on a hike through the Carolinian Forest to find ‘The Tree’, and then up an old Deer Run to the top of Spottiswood bluffs overlooking the Grand River. The Oneida lands in Paris, often called one of the prettiest Towns in Canada.
Night evening accommodations are at nearby Marriott TownePlace Suites equipped for relaxing overnight experience with delicious meal at a choice of several great local restaurants.
Day 2 Launch from our 150 year old Outfitters shop in Paris. Enter the Carolinian Forest, hear the Osprey scream as they soar overhead. drift past Mile Hill, discover cool, clean springs & learn the history of how Paris got its name. Follow your guide for lunch on a hike to the Lookout on the Trail of the White Cedar. Pass a large blue-heron rookery & visit Whitemans Creeks & hear Native legends of forgotten Tribe & amazing people. Land at Brant Park, region’s largest Conservation Area with a scenic riverfront stretching along the Grand, where White-tail Deer, possums, Great Blue Herons and Bald Eagles make their home.
