A 1 day, 1 night fully outfitted guided canoe camping trip experiencing the scenic, historic Grand River. Discover why the Grand is a Canadian Heritage River.
The trip is on our Cayuga Run, a scenic section of the Grand River stretching from historic Ont. to Brant Conservation Area. Paris is 1 of the prettiest Towns in Canada. A great beginning for a beautiful paddle. This section of Grand River Valley travels through rare Carolinian forest with a wide range of flora & fauna normally found much further south. It is Canada’s most bio-diverse region. Our friendly guides are Paddle Canada certified, with years of experience on the river and training in the Grand’s flora, fauna & history. We will lead you through all the best channels in the river, revealing sights normally missed including: Osprey and Bald Eagle habitat, a natural Springs flowing into the river, places to swim and a 170 year old abandoned Gypsum mine that gives Paris its name (Plaster of Paris). Midway through the trip your guide will lead you on a hike through the Carolinian Forest on the Trail of the White Cedars to a scenic lookout over the Grand River.
Overnight at the end of your 1st day’s journey, land at your campsite in Brant Conservation Area. Your campsite is fully equipped with all the gear you need for a relaxing camping experience. Brant is a large Conservation Area with a scenic river front stretching several kilometers along the Grand plus kilometers of inland trails. White-tail Deer & Bald Eagles make their home in Brant, as do raccoons, possums, wild turkeys & Great Blue Herons.
