Fun and learning blast off over three space-themed days. There’s something for everyone at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum this Family Day weekend!
Have you always wanted to meet an astronaut? This is your opportunity! Canadian Astronaut Dr. Dave Williams will be at the museum for presentations about his experiences in space, as well as for fun readings of his space-related children’s books. Dr. Dave will also be available for book signings after his presentations.
Experience the excitement of standing on the launch pad beneath the Space Launch System, NASA’s massive new rocket, in immersive Virtual Reality – available Family Day Weekend only. Take in the scale of the Space Launch System and explore the rocket from multiple angles. Sit in the cockpit during prelaunch activities to see what it’s like to be an astronaut inside the Orion spacecraft!
Want to learn more about the stars above? Sit back and relax in Astronomy in Action’s planetarium and explore through time and space. Stunning 4K visuals of the true night sky in a professionally presented 360-degree theatre allows you to experience the universe with wonder and awe.
Family Day weekend also marks the debut of a new exhibit: “Health in Space”. “Health in Space” explores how gravity, radiation, and isolation all pose unique health challenges for astronauts living and working in space. Highlights include authentic artifacts, interactive experiences, and video interviews with Canadian astronauts!
There will also be plenty of intergalactic activities for children throughout the weekend, from fun daily presentations demonstrating how flight works to the chance to build your own mini jet pack.
