Created for a solo exhibition at the Ottawa Art Gallery, this installation has toured Quebec and has been exhibited in the Taiwan Ceramic Biennale in 2018.
Paula Murray’s installation ‘You Are Me’ consists of a large circular plinth with its center cut out, wrapped with lengths of white fabric. On this, sits seven large handbuilt clay vessels, ranging in colour from white to a red ochre pink. These vessels, being hand built, gives them an individuality that one would not see if the containers were wheel thrown and more uniform in shape. Each pot is empty, though two of them contain what looks like the remnants of fluid that has dried up. One of these pools is white, the other is red. All of these features certainly are consistent with Christian interpretations, but these symbols are much more universal.
