Looking for a different view from the seat of your golf cart? Hamilton Halton Brant is home to several golf courses that will make you feel like you’re a million miles from home even though they are just a short car ride away from the big city. These six off-the-radar courses offer great golf, killer views and an amazing day away.
Granite Ridge Golf Club, Milton
Granite Ridge delivers on its promise of a private golf course atmosphere at public course prices. Nestled beneath the Niagara Escarpment, the 36-hole course offers two challenging 18-hole layouts.
King's Forest Golf Course, Hamilton
Play the course that SCOREGolf magazine recognized as the number one municipally owned golf course in Canada. King’s Forest Municipal Golf Club has the Red Hill Creek running through the course, so it’s green, lush and always a beauty to play.
Brantford Golf and Country Club
With stunning views of the Grand River, Brantford Golf and Country Club offers great scenery and great play. It’s one of Canada’s oldest courses, but it has stood the test of time. PGA veteran David Hearn, who still plays there regularly, has called the course a great test that “uses your whole bag.” Golf course critic Marc Saltzman has called the course spectacular, and ranked it within the province’s top 20. Ian Andrew, a member of the American Society of Golf Architects, offered high praise for the course when he said it had the best set of par threes in Ontario.
Piper's Heath, Halton Hills
If you want to feel like you’ve escaped to the Scottish Highlands for the day, you’ll love Piper’s Heath, the 18-hole championship course designed by Graham Cooke just outside of Milton. All prime time green fees include a complimentary bucket of balls for warming up at the driving range.
Oakville Executive Golf Courses: Mystic Ridge and Angel's View
While Glen Abbey may get all the attention, Oakville has plenty of other great courses for golfers to enjoy. If your Hamilton Halton Brant adventures mean you haven’t got time for a full day on the courses, take the Executive route. Angel’s View Golf Course is a great nine-hole option and right next door you’ll find Mystic Ridge, an 18-hole course that can be played in 4 hours. The 18 picturesque holes range in length from 145 to over 460 yards. There are two par-5’s, five par-4’s and the rest are challenging par-3’s.
