Honouring Our Veterans

Two days to … appreciate our freedom fighters

Start your day at Hamilton’s Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. After viewing the amazing collection of airplanes, experience the thrill of navigating a Chipmunk trainer, the Lancaster bomber or the supersonic CF-101 Voodoo jet on the flight simulator.

Next, head for the Hamilton Harbour and climb aboard the HMCS Haida for a tour of Canada’s most decorated war ship.

Then, make your way to Battlefield House Museum and Park in Stoney Creek to learn about the historic War of 1812 battle that took place here. Tour the Gage family home, which was occupied by invading American troops and used as a headquarters and see the 100-foot monument that was erected to commemorate a century of peace between the British and the Americans.

The next morning, step back in time at Brantford’s Canadian Military Heritage Museum. The museum has a captivating collection of artifacts that tell the stories of our veterans’ efforts in the War of 1812, WWI, WWII, Korea and Afghanistan.
