What’s Canada without our famous Maple Syrup? Mountsberg’s sugar bush has been producing maple magic for almost 150 years, and educating the public for more than 30 years! Approximately 600 trees are tapped during what could certainly be deemed the most Canadian of the seasons, where watery sap is transformed into sweet maple syrup in the Sugar Shanty. See how sap is magically transformed into sweet, sticky syrup, and smell the fragrant steam rising from simmering kettles. Learn the secrets of making Maple Candy and taste FREE candy samples. *Enjoy piping hot pancakes smothered in fresh maple syrup outdoors under our pavilion nestled in the woods. *Enjoy a guided wagon ride through the sugar bush and learn about the history of maple syrup. Climb, jump, and run in the Play Barn. See dramatic birds of prey demonstrations in the Raptor Centre at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm & 3pm. View bison, eagles, hawks and owls along the Wildlife Walkway. When did the ice age start? Is it over now or will the ice return? And what happened to all… More >

When did the ice age start? Is it over now or will the ice return? And what happened to all those ice age mammals? All of these questions are answered this winter at RBG. 20,000 years ago, mammoths, mastadons, camels, giant sloths, short-faced bears, scimitar cats, and lions thrived on the open grasslands of the Yukon. It was the cold peak of the last glacial phase of the ice age. The Big Freeze brings the ice age story home to RBG, with a display of mammoth/mastodon remains that have been recovered in the local area, and artwork that provides a glimpse into the formation of the landscapes of RBG and the environment we see today. Daily family-friendly activities, special presentations and guest speakers make for an exciting experience where visitors of all ages can explore the past and learn about the future at the same time. Stay tuned for a full schedule of activities.
